The dramatic incident began in the early hours of Sunday morning at approximately 3:00 a.m. in the municipality of Vidreres, located in the La Selva region. The suspect, who was operating a van, deliberately evaded a traffic checkpoint manned by the local police. Following the evasion, local officers issued an immediate alert that prompted the regional Mossos d’Esquadra to intervene and initiate a widespread pursuit.
The high-speed chase continued along the C-25 highway, also known as the Eix Transversal, heading toward the Osona region. In an attempt to intercept the fleeing vehicle, Mossos d’Esquadra officers established a secondary blockade at kilometer marker 189 in Sant Julià de Vilatorta. However, the suspect bypassed this second checkpoint by driving at excessive speeds, blatantly disregarding the safety of the officers and other motorists on the highway.
