BARCELONA, Spain – The Mossos d’Esquadra detained a 14-year-old girl on Sunday for threatening students at a Barcelona school through messages posted on social media, with the arrested minor having been placed at the disposal of the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.

According to El Periódico and confirmed by police sources, on the same Sunday as the detention several parents alerted authorities to the existence of messages in which the teenager threatened to kill students with knives this Monday during class hours.
After receiving the alert, the Catalan police activated preventive measures and proceeded to detain the minor, with the Mossos also reinforcing police presence around the school and maintaining contact with the educational community.
