ALICANTE, Spain – A Russian mother has prevented two young Moroccan men from dragging her four-year-old daughter into the sea at El Postiguet beach in Alicante on Monday afternoon, after she struggled with one of the suspects who had grabbed the child and was pulling her toward the water where another man was waiting. The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. on the beach located in the heart of the city, at a time when the sand and surrounding area were crowded with people enjoying the afternoon sun.

When the mother noticed a man taking her four-year-old daughter by the hand and attempting to drag her into the sea, where a second man was waiting, she rushed to free the child despite the man’s resistance. The woman’s swift reaction prevented any harm, as she managed to recover her daughter after a struggle with the suspect, while both individuals reacted by trying to move away from the scene but remained in the water to avoid being recognised or arousing suspicion in the surrounding area.
However, they were identified after a second woman, of Serbian origin who was on the shore, recognised both individuals and immediately approached Local Police officers to report that one of them had earlier attempted to make sexual advances toward her while she was bathing in the sea. The two Moroccan men were detained by Alicante Local Police officers as alleged perpetrators of both offences: the attempt to drag the child away and the alleged sexual touching of the woman while she was bathing.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, which has shocked the coastal city and raised concerns about safety on popular beaches during peak tourist season. The swift action of both the mother and the second witness proved crucial in ensuring the suspects were identified and apprehended before they could escape. Police have not ruled out the possibility of further charges as the investigation continues.
