SABADELL, Spain — A 34-year-old man was killed in a tragic head-on collision early Monday morning in Sabadell after a repeat offender, fleeing a robbery in a stolen vehicle, crossed into the oncoming lane.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. on the BV-1248 road. The victim, identified by his initials as O.A.T., was a resident of Sabadell who was reportedly on his way to work when his vehicle was struck. The impact was so severe that the victim was transported in critical condition to the Parc Taulí Hospital in Sabadell, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigations by the Mossos d’Esquadra, the regional police force of Catalonia, indicate that the driver responsible for the collision is a known repeat offender. The suspect, who has an extensive criminal record comprising approximately 15 prior offenses, was driving a stolen vehicle equipped with duplicate license plates at the time of the crash. Due to the severity of the frontal impact, the suspect sustained critical injuries and required complex extrication by firefighters before being transported to the hospital by the Medical Emergency System (SEM).

The Traffic Division of the Mossos d’Esquadra has launched a comprehensive investigation to reconstruct the events and determine the precise dynamics of the crash. Initial findings suggest the suspect caused the accident by illegally occupying the opposite lane in an area strictly marked with a double solid line. Authorities have stated that if the suspect survives his injuries, he will face formal charges of homicide. The exact age and nationality of the suspect have not yet been publicly disclosed.
