Officers opened an investigation and, in the first inquiries, the victim stated that “two people had hit him with a stick” to snatch a backpack containing his mobile phone and money, with the information obtained allowing the search for the alleged perpetrators to be directed and a sweep of the surrounding area to be carried out, where one of those involved was located and detained.
Officers continued their investigative efforts to determine the involvement of the second suspect and establish his whereabouts, and after his subsequent location and detention, the alleged perpetrators were placed at the disposal of the El Ejido Court, specifically its Civil and Instruction Section number 4. The Civil Guard reminded the public of the importance of “not putting one’s physical integrity or life at risk to defend material goods,” recommending that people “stay calm in this type of situation, not resist and report the events immediately” to the security forces.
