MADRID, Spain – The invaders of Ceuta are sowing terror in the autonomous city, with several illegal immigrants among the approximately 20,000 still remaining on Ceuta’s streets having burned several vehicles and containers in front of a school zone in recent hours, causing a fire in the El Príncipe neighbourhood. Tension has escalated more than a month after the invasion, and the concern of Ceuta residents has reached extreme levels with incidents that are rising in severity. The intensity of the flames forced several residents of the area to leave their homes in extreme worry, with officers from the National Police, Local Police and the Fire Extinction and Rescue Service attending the scene.
Marlaska Angers Journalists in Ceuta by Limiting Press Conference Questions
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said on Wednesday in an interview with TVE that the citizens of Ceuta must get used to their structural reality, while Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska stated on Tuesday that Ceuta residents suffer from a feeling of subjective insecurity. All this, while the executive provides no figures for the illegal immigrants still in Ceuta and justifies itself by claiming it is impossible to calculate.
While fires involving cars in this neighbourhood are not a great novelty, this incident in the early hours of Wednesday to Thursday does make clear that the mass entry of illegal immigrants, many of whom are staying in El Príncipe, has led to an increase in dangerousness in the neighbourhood, as well as throughout the city of Ceuta.

In addition to the fires of cars and containers, robberies by illegal immigrants settled in various areas of Ceuta since 30 July, the day of the mass entry, must be added. One of the invaders, who was attempting to rob a woman leaving the supermarket, dislocated the knee of the soldier who defended her. Furthermore, the figures for women, mostly minors, treated for sexual assault continue to rise, and in recent hours two new attacks have been reported near Playa del Trampolín and just metres from the Temporary Stay Centre for Immigrants, where many of the invaders are located, well cared for and connected to the internet after the government installed a large antenna. The figure now stands at 25 sexual assaults reported since the invasion.
