Ex-Suspect Returns to Badalona Store, Attempts Murder with Shattered Glass
BADALONA, Spain – A 23-year-old African man has been arrested for attempted murder after attacking a female customer with broken glass outside a Badalona supermarket, just hours after being released from police custody for robbing the exact same establishment.

The suspect, a Senegalese national who resides on the streets of the local Pomar neighborhood, was initially detained on Monday after attempting to rob the supermarket located at the intersection of Carretera de Pomar and Carrer Masnou. When Catalan regional police officers responded to alerts from the store’s staff, the man confronted the authorities, resulting in his arrest for violent robbery and disobedience.
Following a night in police custody, the individual was presented before a Badalona court on Tuesday morning, where the presiding magistrate ordered his release. However, by midday, the man had returned to the same supermarket he had targeted less than 24 hours earlier. Although his initial intention appeared to be harming a female employee, the presence of a police vehicle outside the entrance prompted him to change targets.

In a seemingly random act of violence, the suspect ambushed a female customer who was about to enter the store. Using the shattered remains of a glass bottle, he inflicted severe lacerations to the woman’s head and arms. The unprovoked and brutal assault occurred in full view of the victim’s children, who had accompanied her on the shopping trip.

The aggressor attempted to flee the scene on foot but was quickly pursued and apprehended by a regional police patrol already stationed in the area. He is now facing charges of attempted murder and has been returned to custody. The victim was promptly evacuated by emergency medical services to a local hospital. Despite the severity of her injuries, authorities have confirmed that her condition is stable and her life is not in danger. The suspect, who already had two prior police records before this week’s violent spree, is currently awaiting his next judicial hearing.
