Algerian Held After Assault Leaves 46-Year-Old in Coma in Valencia
The incident occurred on June 20, when a 24-year-old man was intercepted by three individuals who attempted to force him to purchase drugs. Upon the victim’s refusal, one of the men attacked him with a bladed weapon. The victim fled the initial assault and was relentlessly pursued into a local hospitality establishment, where the assailant cornered and stabbed him.
Three officers from the Cheste Local Police responded to the emergency and entered the premises, immediately confronting the suspect who was still wielding the knife. One of the officers deployed an electric defense device to neutralize the threat. During the struggle, the attacker managed to stab the responding officer. Fortunately, the officer’s protective vest prevented serious injury, enabling him to deploy the electric device a second time and successfully subdue the assailant.
The primary suspect, a 31-year-old Algerian national, was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted murder, resulting in his immediate provisional imprisonment. The Judicial Police of Llíria subsequently assumed control of the investigation to unravel the full scope of the attack.

Through the meticulous review of security camera footage and close operational collaboration between the Civil Guard and the Cheste Local Police, authorities successfully identified the two accomplices who had accompanied the main attacker. Investigators determined that these two men actively participated in the crime by physically assaulting the victim and chasing him into the establishment prior to the stabbing.
The two accomplices, Moroccan nationals aged 26 and 30, have been formally implicated as co-authors in the attempted murder charge. Authorities noted that one of the men was already subject to an administrative expulsion order and has consequently been placed in a foreigner detention center pending a final ruling from the competent judicial authority. The second individual was apprehended while already subject to an active arrest and imprisonment warrant for prior offenses.
