MADRID, Spain — The Spanish government has received an unprecedented 900,000 applications from foreign nationals seeking to regularize their immigration status, with the official submission window set to close on June 30.
Nearly Half Of Spaniards Oppose Government’s Immigration Regularization Program
This staggering volume represents a historic record, surpassing the total number of requests registered during any previous regularization processes in the country’s history. The milestone was initially reported by El País and subsequently confirmed to the EFE news agency by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
To manage the massive influx of paperwork before the deadline, administrative processing is already well underway. Out of the 900,000 total applications submitted thus far, authorities have formally admitted approximately 360,000 files for official processing, highlighting the intense administrative effort required to evaluate the claims before the cutoff date.

In light of the overwhelming response and the rapidly approaching deadline, the Ministry is urging applicants to remain calm and ensure their documentation is fully completed and submitted. The overarching objective, championed jointly by the Executive branch, non-governmental organizations, specialized immigration lawyers, and the grassroots migrant movements that originally propelled the initiative from the streets, is to ensure that no eligible individual is left behind in the regularization process.
