Toledo House With Human Remains Listed For 94,500 Euros

VILLANUEVA DE ALCARDETE, Spain — A semi-detached house in the Toledo municipality of Villanueva de Alcardete, where human skeletal remains were recently discovered, has been listed for sale on the real estate portal Idealista for over six months. The property, priced at 94,500 euros, features 220 square meters of space and five bedrooms, though the listing explicitly notes that the residence requires extensive renovation.

The online advertisement describes the property as a single-family home located just 60 meters from the town hall in the Plaza de La Cruz Verde, touted as one of the most desirable locations in the village. The two-story structure includes a ground-floor patio, a spacious living room, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large kitchen. The upper floor features a terrace and three additional rooms connected by a staircase. Notably, the home also boasts a specialized cellar suitable for barrel wine storage due to its unique thermal conditions, and its traditional adobe walls are designed to keep the interior naturally cool during the summer months.

The grim discovery was made during demolition and cleaning operations inside the residence, which had remained uninhabited for more than three decades. Sources from the Government Delegation in Castilla-La Mancha confirmed on Tuesday that the skeletal remains belong to an individual who has been deceased for approximately forty years.

The Judicial Police of the Civil Guard have taken charge of the investigation. Authorities are currently working to determine the identity of the deceased and whether there are any signs of foul play or violence associated with the remains. The ongoing forensic examination aims to piece together the circumstances surrounding the individual’s death and their presence in the long-abandoned property.
