North African Man, 18, Arrested Over Fatal Robbery of Elderly Woman in Lleida

The tragedy unfolded last Saturday when the victim, identified locally as Dolors, left her home to take her dog for a walk. When the animal returned to the village alone, deeply concerned neighbors and family members immediately launched a search party. Later that evening, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the search concluded with the grim discovery of the elderly woman’s body in a nearby cornfield, located just 200 meters from the town center.

An initial forensic examination of the scene revealed clear and disturbing signs of extreme violence. Investigators determined that the assailant had attacked the victim with a bottle, inflicting severe lacerations and blunt force contusions. Preliminary assessments from the Government Sub-delegation indicated that the primary motive was robbery. This early finding led investigators to rule out gender-based violence as a factor, although the official determination of the motive remains pending as the forensic and criminal investigation continues.

Following an intensive and rapid investigation, agents from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos d’Esquadra successfully located and detained the suspect. The 18-year-old, who is also a resident of Soses, now faces severe charges related to the murder and robbery of the elderly woman.

The shocking crime has deeply traumatized the small, close-knit community of Soses. In response to the tragedy, the local town council officially declared three days of mourning. A solemn minute of silence was observed at noon on Sunday in the village square, as residents gathered to pay their respects to the beloved local woman and express their collective grief over the senseless violence that shattered the peace of their town.
