The events unfolded at approximately 8:30 p.m. on May 18 on Carrer d’Antoni Fabra i Riba in the Baix Camp municipality. Officers from the Mossos d’Esquadra’s Reus precinct were dispatched to the area following emergency calls reporting a masked individual causing public alarm while wielding a large bladed weapon in the middle of the street.

Upon arriving at the scene, the patrol attempted to de-escalate the situation and mediate with the suspect. According to visual evidence obtained from the scene, the young man initially complied with police commands by placing the knife into his pocket. However, rather than cooperating with the authorities, his demeanor quickly shifted, and he began aggressively threatening to physically assault the responding officers.

Recognizing the immediate threat, the police officers moved in to subdue the individual and place him in handcuffs. The suspect violently resisted the arrest, leading to a physical struggle. During the intervention, one of the Mossos d’Esquadra officers fell to the ground, sustaining minor injuries. The suspect was ultimately overpowered, detained, and taken into custody without further incident.

The 19-year-old, whose specific nationality has been withheld by authorities but is confirmed to be of foreign origin, has been formally charged with making threats and assaulting agents of the authority. Investigators also noted that the teenager has two prior police records for offenses that are entirely unrelated to the current incident.
