Barcelona — A woman has died after being stabbed in a violent attack on a public street in Esplugues de Llobregat on Saturday morning. Police have arrested a suspect of North African origin approximately one hour after the incident.

According to the Mossos d’Esquadra, the attack took place on Joan Miró Street, near the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu. Emergency services received a call shortly before 11:00 a.m. reporting that a man armed with a knife had attacked several people and fled the scene.
Victim Dies at Scene
Units from both the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques were deployed immediately. Despite their efforts, medical personnel were unable to save the life of one of the victims, a woman who died at the scene. Authorities have not released her identity.
Suspect Arrested After Fleeing
The alleged attacker fled following the stabbing but was located and arrested shortly afterward in the city of Barcelona. Police have identified him as a man of North African origin. No further official details about his identity have been disclosed.

Investigation Underway
Initially, authorities considered the possibility that the case could be related to gender-based violence. However, investigators are now working to determine whether there was any prior relationship between the suspect and the victim. Officials have stated that no hypothesis has been ruled out.
